From the farm one has immediate access to numerous footpaths through woods, fields and grassland, offering a chance to explore remote and unfrequented parts of this most picturesque valley. The long-distance Cotswold Way passes through Painswick, a couple of miles to the west of Furners Farm.

Bird watching

Swifts Hill Nature Reserve, run by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, is a 15 minute walk away. It is noted for its wild orchids in spring, and its bird life throughout the year.

Farmers Market

Stroud has one of the country’s best known Saturday markets, with a wide selection of organic and hand crafted produce, including delicious fresh ingredients for your picnic.

Arts & Crafts

Stroud and Painswick, both just a mile or so away, are centres for skilled craftsmen and artists.

Visit Woodchester Mansion, Painswick Rococo Gardens, Prinknash Abbey, and other South Cotswolds attractions.  

Admire the superb local architecture of the very beautiful historic stone villages nearby of Bisley, Sheepscombe, Painswick and Minchinhampton.


Many people appreciate the peace and serenity of the Slad Valley.  There is a meditation room in the garden at Furners Farm for those who may wish to pray or meditate.
